[Travel] Staycation @ S-Suites

Are you finding conventional hotels boring?

Nearly all standard hotels provides lodging paid on a short-term basis. Facilities may range from a modest-quality mattress in a fully air conditioned small room to large rooms with bigger, higher-quality beds, a mirrored dresser, upholstered chairs, a flatscreen television, en-suite bathrooms with hot bath tub/shower, hairdryers, mini fridge with coffee kettle and open/closed wardrobe,  Small, lower-rating hotels may offer only the most basic guest services and facilities. Larger, higher-rating hotels might have additional guest facilities such as a swimming pool, business centre, childcare, conference and event facilities, tennis or basketball courts, gymnasium, restaurants, day spa and social function services.

While a stay at the hotel may sound relaxing and renewing, often people prefers lodging that can bring more comfort of a home especially when the number of occupants greatly increase in size. That is when bedroom suites come in as an option for consideration.

S-suites, located at The Scott Garden nestled in the busy district of Mid Valley/ Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur is a luxurious yet economic duplex suite. Famous attractions are of in close proximity with Berjaya Times Square 4.2 miles away, Starhill Gallery and KLCC 5 miles away. Each suite is fully furnished with individual themes to make you feel warm and modern with everything needed to feel at home. It can comfortably accommodate up to four guests with a choice of one queen bed or two single beds. Family suite is also available for one queen bed and a single bunk bed or two single bed and one bunk bed.

The entrance features a gated grill, Avengers painted wooden door and Marvels poster images. Suite's theme color is kept at a combination of grey, light wood, black white and teal. Furniture complements the whole design of Scandinavian concept. Ambiance feels simple and clean.

The living area is in view connected to the kitchen and dining table.

Marvel fans would be enthralled by the whole design concept of the suite.

Living area overlooks other units with a high ceiling window up to the height of the second floor, allowing masses whites of light into the area.

Included in is a flatscreen TV and free WiFi in the suite.

A view of the top floor.

Connected to the kitchen area is a bottom floor bathroom.

Open concept kitchen equipped with microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, cabinets, thermo flask and kitchen utensils. Light cooking is allowed with electric induction counter top stoves.

A full set of kitchenware.

Series of marvel movies dates for the die hard fanatics.

A mini deck on the second floor overlooking the living area.

Adjoining bathroom and wardrobe.

Amenities such as clean towels and bedsheets are provided.

Heaters, hairdryers and glass door bathroom.

I love the overall concept and how the rooms are separated from the kitchen and living area with ceiling windows, making the suite look spacious.

Even the switches are mad chio.

Access to the hotel's fitness center, sauna, outdoor pool, children's playground, pool (kids) will further enhance your satisfying stay. There is even three floor levels featuring convenience stores, laundry service, atms, salons, restaurants, coffees, bars and retail. Guests are entitled to an indoor free parking as well. The property is independently operated by individual owners & does not have a proper reception area. Guests must attend an organized meet-and-greet session to receive keys & further contact details regarding the stay.

This would be a perfect choice to host birthday parties and gathering occasions. Lone travelers would exceptionally be comfortable staying as the community is gated, guarded, safe and public transport access are all within reach.

Glass gymnasium gives a view of the pool.

[Food] Japanese Buffet @Sushi Roiyaru

Japanese buffet fans, rejoice!

I have here something good to share. This Japanese restaurant in Sri Petaling serves reasonable portion of free flow buffet which accommodates to its price. The varieties are not as much as those of Jogoya's Buffet @Starhill but in terms of freshness and quality, this restaurant deem its recommendation from me.

#1 The entrance and interior of the restaurant features a classic black and wood ensemble, giving off minimalistic and clean ambiance. A good parking spot might be hard to catch duirng peak hours, as the busy street shops are filled with eateries nearby.

#2 Price list ranges from RM68.80 + per adult exclusive of tax and service charge. Half price for children and discounted prices for senior citizens. Menu A consists of mainly cold and raw foods, selection of sashimis and hand rolled sushis.

#3 Menu B for cooked selections.

#4 The first dish served was this grilled salmon with terriyaki sauce topped with tobiko (fish roe). I got a shock at its indistinctive small serving size. Tasted normal but the idea of including fish roe was ideal to bring out a different tinge of bite sensation.

#5 Next on the menu came my most anticipated amongst any Japanese restaurant- the sashimi. Oysters, salmon, tuna and white tuna was fresh and cut well in thickness accordance to its appearance in order to obtain the best flavor. As for the saba/the mackerel, grilling with soy sauce is still preferred over eaten raw.

Tip: Did you know that sashimi is usually served with wasabi and soy sauce. However, to fully enjoy the flavor, the wasabi should be placed on the fish and the fish dipped in the sauce, rather than having the wasabi mixed into the sauce. This is to prevent the flavor of the soy sauce from empowering the fragrance of the wasabi. Refraining from mixing wasabi into the soy sauce also gives the benefit of enjoying different flavoured seasonings for the sashimi.

#6 Again, my among my most anticipated dish was this- Beauty Collagen in a Pot (Bijin Nabe). Famous among the Japanese female, this pot serves collagen-rich organic chicken broth from non-antibiotic Anxin chicken. The pot came with lumps of white smooth silky pudding which melts into a boiling pot of divine chicken broth after heating. Feel no guilt after a pot of steamboat as you can drink all you like without having to worry about getting thirsty from ajinomotos. The soup base tastes nutritious, rich and extremely flavourful like any chicken broth- plus you get beauty and whitening- all in a pot.

There's a wide selection of add ons to the base soup, from soba noodles to meat, shrimp, beancurd, vegetables, mushrooms, eggs and udon.

#7 Sliced beef to complement the soup. The beef came too thick for me, as accidental overcooked beef results in stiffness, not so pleasing to chew.

#8 For customers ordering buffet, this salmon head seared with terriyaki sauce was served additionally for free.

#9 Same goes to the soft shell crab. Reservations must be made in advanced before 2pm daily in order to be entitled to this. Note: Free servings are not searchable on their menu, means walk in customers dont get the chance to have this served on the table. Another additional free dish was the salmon belly, as which you guessed it-cant order straight from the menu.

#10 Reversed California roll- California maki. Reversed because it is made inside out, wrapping cucumber and soft shell crab. No avocado inside though.

#11 Contrary to the above, the California Temaki handroll made of avocado, crab sticks, cucumber and tobiko.

#12 Chuka Kurage (seasoned jellyfish), Chasu Yaki (roasted pork belly) and Hotate Kushiyaki (grilled scallop).

#13 Gyuniku Teppan (beef teppanyaki). Too stiff to be chewed. A no-no.

#14 Takoyaki (octopus ball)

#15 Smoked duck salad. Apart from having the slices of smoked duck a little smaller, we love the combination of smoky and japanese sesame dressing.

#16 One of the favourite on the table- a combination of ebi tempura and shisamo tempura. Fried to perfection coupled with their special sauce, who can say no to this?

#17 Added a few sushi because whats japanese cuisine without sushi right?

Available choice on the menu for beverage includes green tea and fizzy drinks while dessert serves ice cream in a selection of flavors. All ala-carte dishes/drinks are refillable including the collagen broth, however, wastage would be charged at RM10/100gm.

Other than the small portion, I'm satisfied with the overall reviews, because there's nothing a refill cant fix. I would trade that for the freshness and quality instead.

[Sponsored Review] Bidanpo Mediental Botanic Garden Masks

Greetings!

I have been sent some masks for review purposes by HiShop.

#1  Bidanpo Mediental Garden Masks in Acai Berry and Lemon.

#2  Acai Berry.

#3  Made of natural tencel cellulose. Photo on right shows me pulling these sheets. As you see, the mask is thick and wont tear with ease.

About this mask?
  • Country of origin : Korea
  • Type of mask : Sheet mask
  • Material : Natural tencel cellulose
  • Contains : Main [Euterpe Oleracea and Vaccinium Angustifolium (blueberry) extract]; Strawberry, Rice bran, Carregeenan, Camellia Sinensis leaf, Coffee seed, Cocoa, Diospyros Kaki leaf and Wine [extract]
  • Claims to : retains moisture, creating a lively glow

Pros?
  • Amount of essence : Adequate (whole masque completely immersed in essence) with slightly extra where applicable to areas around the neck, hands and leg. Even after 15 minutes, masks stays fit on face
  • Application : The material (tencel cellulose) is highly dermotropic which makes application easy. Mask stays cool despite storing in room temperature. Not sure if the material plays any role
  • Material : Not thin and size fits asians face (with slight empty area). Would recommend to cut mask into two at nose area to fit better. However, stretchability is rather low
  • Absorbency : Medium. Takes some time for full absorption
  • Scent : Pleasant. Doesn't smells like strong artificial fragrance but like you have just entered a fresh room
  • Proves to : Immediate radiance to the face

Cons?
  • Feeling on skin : Leaves the face feeling slightly sticky until essence fully absorbed.

#4  After 15 minutes, mask stays fit except for a few areas around the mouth and nose started peeling off.

#5  While masking, I applied left over essence on both hands for comparison. Photo on right shows obvious radiance.

#6  Viscosity test - I know I look silly here but for the sake of the test; tissue sticks to the face for awhile which I dont particularly favor.

#7  Lemon.

About this mask?
  • Country of origin : Korea
  • Type of mask : Sheet mask
  • Material : Natural tencel cellulose
  • Contains : Main [Citrus Limonum (lemon) and Citrus Aurantifolia (lime) extract]; Lavender, Raspberry, Carrageenan, Camellia Sinensis leaf, Coffee seed, Cocoa, Diospyros Kaki leaf and Wine [extract]
  • Claims to : makes skin clear and pure

Pros?
  • Scent : Pleasant. Smells like light lemon freshener
  • Lighter compared to Acai Berry and not so sticky
  • Proves to : Skin became more transparent

#8  Tested on back of hands. Photo on right shows after.

#9  After indulging in lemon heaven.

Usage steps?
  • With a cleanse face, remove residues with a toner. Take out mask, unfold and place on face for 15 to 20 minutes
  • Remove mask and gently pat on the skin to facilitate absorption of remaining essence

Rating
Would recommend lemon mask more than acai berry. Of course to achieve the long term effect requires more than one application :)

Both of these masks are available in HiShop (direct link) at RM4.50/piece. Remember to quote LIYEE during checkout to be entitled to a 15% discount on total purchases.

Announcement
